Conflict on The River Jordan

Here is an interesting Photo Essay that addresses environmental justice issues on a global level. It takes a look at the conflict related to the water use of the River Jordan by the Palestinians and the Israelites. One that uses traditional environmental knowledge to conserve an already scarce resource and manages to do unbelievable things with very little while the other uses methods that are wasteful and out dated.
Summary: Writer Stephan Faris discusses "Holy Water: A precious commodity in a region of conflict" from the November/December 2011 issue of Orion. Faris wrote the article and Francesco Zizola took the photographs for this photo essay about the politics of water usage in and around Israel.
